About the Miller's

What started as a mother's day gift turned into a lifestyle . . . horses!  We began our horse journey in 1998 as Scott was fulfilling his wife's, Lisa, dream of having horses.  Little did we know the magnitude that first step would have.

A little about the family...
We have two young children, Andrew and Catherine, with whom we share our love of horses.  Scott is an Attorney with his own private practice, Miller Legal Strategic Planning Centers, PA, which specializes in Estate, Business and Farm Succession Planning.  Scott enjoys the "farmer" role as he relaxes away from the office by fencing and working on the farm.  Lisa was a Marketing Director with a design background before she took up the challenge of raising children and horses.    Lisa manages the day to day horse care.  We both enjoy working together on the breeding, riding, watching, and caring parts of having horses.  We take an active role in our church, community, horses, and especially our families.  For all these and more, we are truly blessed.

We are avid believers in bringing horses into their natural ability through classical methods of natural horsemanship, such as John Lyons, Pat Parelli and dressage training.  We believe in letting our horses be horses.  We have stalls available for certain aspects such as foaling, however, our horses are able to run in the pastures of our 114 acre estate with access to loafing sheds for protection.  We firmly believe in working our horses from the inside out, which is why we take great care in providing them with an excellent diet, worming and vaccination program.  We take great pride in our horses.  They are members of our family.

Our Horses...
We first fell in love with the Friesian horses in the fall of 1998.  We bought our first from our wonderful friend, Lana Markey of North Ster Friesians.  We spent 10 hours learning about FHANA (Friesian Horse Association of North America) and Friesians at her home in Wisconsin one fall day in 1998.  That was it.  We were hooked, and purchased her mare, Franziska who was due to foal that next spring.  Since then Frannie has had two fillies for us, Wyntre and Belle, both FHANA registered.  We do not believe in cross breeding our Friesians as outlined in our membership of FHANA.  We will be starting our fillies under saddle and in dressage as they turn three.

Our children are the center of our world and we really wanted them to take an active role in enjoying the horses.  However, at our children's young age, coupled with the size of the Friesians, we decided to explore other options for their riding pleasure, and their parents comfort level.  Along came the Gypsies; absolutely adorable.  After spotting them at the MN Horse Expo last year, we had to find out more.  They were like a little painted version of a Friesian, with tons of feathering and the smoothest looking trot - perfect for the children.  We finally purchased and imported our first Gypsy mare in February of 2002 (for Andrew), then another in April (for Katie), and finally our stallion (for Scott & Lisa) arrived here in 2002.  Currently we have 5 Friesians, 5 Gypsies with 2 Gypsy babies on the way Spring of 2006!

Our Location...
We are located 3 1/2 hours SW of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis & St. Paul, MN) or 1 1/2 hours NE of Sioux Falls, SD.  We welcome you to visit to see these lovely breeds.
